Come join your fellow Area 9 ringers at this year’s Spring Ring! With locations in Texas and Oklahoma, groups and ringers across the region will have the opportunity to share in ringing and fellowship under the direction of one of our fabulous Area 9 clinicians. In addition to preparing the selected repertoire, choirs, small ensembles, and soloists are invited to prepare one piece to present to the group at the final concert.

Is there an age limit to enter the event? This event is open to ringers ages 10 and up.
What are my parking options getting to the event? There is plenty of free on-site parking for this event at all locations.
Do I have to be a member of Handbell Musicians of America to attend this event? No. All ringers at all skill levels are invited to join us at Spring Ring 2026.

Is my registration refundable? Registration for this event is refundable when requested prior to the registration deadline for the location. Refund requests made after the registration deadline for the location will not be accepted for any reason. Please e-mail your refund request to Jeanne Christopherson at [email protected].
Can I update my registration information? You certainly can! If you noticed that you misspelled your name or gave the wrong telephone number, you can log into your RegFox account to adjust your registration yourself or contact Jeanne Christopherson at [email protected].
Is my registration transferable to another event? Registration for this event is not transferable to other events.
What equipment do I need to bring? Each individual or group will be responsible for bringing the necessary bells, chimes, mallets, music stands, and foam needed for performance. Tables are availabe to rent or you may bring your own.
BOB AVANT
SPRING RING SAN ANTONIO
Bob Avant has an interesting and varied background. His past and current careers include being a band director, an instructional technology consultant to area-wide school districts, an independent technical consultant, a handbell audio and recording engineer for several major handbell music publishers, a composer, a handbell publisher, an author and of course, a long-time handbell director. He is a co-founder of the Austin Handbell Ensemble and is in his 31st year as its Director. He is also excited to be in his 16th year as the Director of the Baylor Bronze Handbell Ensemble at Baylor University. In addition to these ensembles, he has also led church handbell choirs for over 30 years. Recently, Bob published his book entitled, “Advancing Towards Excellence in Handbell Ensembles” which has been well received in the handbell community. He holds three degrees, all from the University of Texas at Austin including a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, a Master’s Degree in Music (Instrumental Conducting) and a Master’s Degree in Education (Instructional Technology). Bob is a long time member of the national organization, the Handbell Musicians of America and is active as a clinician and presenter of sessions at the state and national level.
HART MORRIS
SPRING RING TULSA
Hart Morris is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University (Church Music/Voice) and the University of Houston (Choral Conducting), with additional studies in percussion at Oklahoma City University and the University of Houston. He was Minister of Music at Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma, from 1992-2012, and served in the same capacity at churches in Florida, Texas, and Tennessee. He has directed Handbell Musicians of America national seminars and festivals, conferences, and workshops, and twice represented the US as a conductor for International Handbell Symposia. He is a
published composer of handbell and choral music.
